In Islam, there is a clear distinction between the two genders as Allah mentions that " Men are the protectors " and guardians of women" So, many of us might think that it is contrary to what the modern principles of feminism proclaim that men and women are the same. But if we go in-depth understanding of Allah's command we will see that this verse has a divine and deep meaning which is in sync with logic. Allah commands the men to be protectors and guardians of women because of course women are weaker than men and by weaker, we mean less masculine than men and can exhibit less muscular power than men so hence this verse has nothing to do with patriarchy.
But then the other element to this is that if Allah states that women are weaker and more fragile than they get some privileges over men in terms of rewards for their virtues and accountability for their sins. Well, the answer is No.
There has been no distinction made by Allah ( S.W.T) between a man and a woman when it comes to giving reward to them or granting punishment to them. Allah (SWT) has made both men and women complement each other and neither of them is subordinate to the other. Islam ensured gender equality and women’s rights in every sphere of their life. So hence if a woman sins ( Major or minor )she will be accountable in front of Allah and if there is a man who commits smart sin as she does the punishment will be the same. So is the case for good deeds there will be some reward. So the case of any distinction is ruled out. So, one can say that women in Islam enjoy all the rights and have to endure all the punishments for doing good and doing bad without being subjected to any injustice
And as far as the rights of Islamic women are concerned about their faith and relationship with their creator. Both men in Islam and women in Islam are promised the same reward for good conduct and the same punishment for evil conduct. Allah says:
“And for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women.” (2: 228)
Thus ending this blog on a note and reminder that your relationship with your creator has no gender bias and he loves you as deeply as he loved us all. Â
